WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WITH LABOR PAIN

Anticipating Labor Pain

What should I expect with labor pain? I’m 34 weeks (eight months and two weeks or so) and I can not help to start thinking about the big day and my fear of labor pain. Whether I will or not use  epidural to help with eliminating labor pain, how I will deal with  the pain of childbirth, if everything will be acceptable … Well guess normal. I have often heard that once my son is in my arms i will  forget any pain. The truth is that this is not scientifically proven. What seems certain is that, in women who had a pleasant experience during childbirth, it is a kind of amnesia of pain. And there are also studies claiming that women who still remember the birth as a miserable experience two months later, take longer to become pregnant and have fewer children.

Painless Childbirth provides enjoyable expectancy, not labor pain

The largest study on this is what made Ulla Waldenström and Erica Schytt Karolinska Institute, Stockholm (Sweden). These doctors asked 1,383 women to put notes to the pain felt during labor on a scale of seven points in two months, one year and five years after the event. Women who had a positive or highly positive recall after two months have improved their scores over time, while those who remembered it as exceedingly negative or negative from the beginning, did not change their assessment over time. However, the memory was not only related to pain, but also with the treatment received by physicians, midwives and others involved in this experience. Somewhat difficult to control, because this really is a matter of luck. The truth is that when sisters and friends have told me their experiences many talk about the luck they had with those who treated them as central to the development of delivery.

LABOR PAINOn the other hand, it seems that   labor pain is inherent on the big scale. This is what Dr Denish assured Walsh, a senior British health who raised some controversy in the country to advocate for control of the use of epidurals. This doctor claimed not completely refuse to if necessary, but claimed she should not be abused as it is today, because the pain felt during labor, produces natural endorphin in the mother and by extension on the baby, making both much less painful process. Does that mean that if I get an epidural to relieve my labor pain but I’m depriving my child of a possible natural birth? On the other hand, I read several manuals that the use of epidural, to avoid pain, causes the mother has less force to push, which may cause necessary external aids such as forceps and even cesarean Is this true?

What should I expect with labor pain

Charo Nogueira, chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hospital Infanta Cristina de Parla where he developed a series of techniques to relieve the labor pain of childbirth: “Here epidural anesthesia is available to all, although some reject it and who can not for reasons health. Put it on the positives, plus it takes away the pain that the woman is more relaxed and dilated much better, so that labor is shorter. In contrast, a woman can not be moved. While there is a type of epidural that completely blocks the motor system, so that women themselves can move and walk, although very minor and put in very few places. It is also true that especially the principle of using this anesthesia, the quantities were probably used less adjusted so there was less sense of pushing. Now there is more experience and although it should be directed to the mother at the time to push, no crashes at all this feeling. ” Finally, Nogueira tells me that the Hospital Infanta Cristina de Parla, during childbirth preparation, make a tour of expectant mothers through the stages of labor to become more familiar. Furthermore, they provide every mother to take the position that is comfortable to relieve pain and for the first time after the expulsion. Thus, in the delivery room, equipped with chairs with a hole in the seat that can expel a child sitting, using the law of gravity. Calls also use birth balls, on which voting, many women get pain relief during labor.

On the other hand, there are investigations, such as Iris Ohel and colleagues at Soroka Medical Center in Israel who say the pain threshold of women increases during childbirth as a natural aid to the work that we have to make. Although it appears that this occurs mainly in women who meet the 40 weeks of pregnancy.

In short, all painless childbirth delivery techniques are based on two premises: working women relieve the force of gravity, using water features, etc and focus attention away from the labor pain. Anything they get, for example, some breathing techniques during labor. How? Activating the pain inhibitory neurons in the brain.  I think this  Painless Childbirth program will fulfill these point.

Finally, another major producer of natural endorphin which makes us feel better at this key moment is the support and emotional support. And here comes into play the role of the couple.  Hopefully, everything depended on it! Because I think if it did we will overcome the labor pain in our childbirth.
